The club as it exists today was formed from the merger of Hook CC with the Newnham CC, then in the '80's by the Basingstoke Civil Service CC (BASICS) joining the fold. In some ways these mergers are a sad reflection of the reduction in the numbers of local people playing the game during the '80's.

 

However, the club today has its largest membership in many years, has a vibrant youth cricket organisation, is an ECB Focus Club and is forging increasingly important links with local businesses through sponsorship and through the organisation of events such as the very successful Corporate 6-a-Side Day.

 

In the last couple if years we have benefited from investment of around £50,000 in the ground and facilities, using money provided by the ECB. In 2006 this funding was used to build new practice nets and extend the square and create a new all weather playing surface. This phase of work is to be completed in 2007 with the completion of a new all weather playing surface.

We are widely recognised for the quality of the playing facilities, with all visiting teams enjoying their matches at Hook which has an excellent square, superbly maintained by Dave Moore.

Our focus must now move to other areas, with the clubhouse being the next obvious target for development. With two football clubs and the Hook Tennis Club sharing the grounds and the clubhouse development of this facility is a critical priority for 2007/2008, and the committee is working actively to raise funds both through grants and through private sponsorship.
